The presence of a doula significantly reduces the likelihood of cesarean
In a study published in June 2008 *, the researchers found that the continued presence of a doula during labor, decreased the chances of cesarean section and reduced the need for epidural.
The control group did receive care from a doula ended in cesarean section 13.4%, compared with 25% of the group not receiving the assistance.
